When, when, when, will it be Christmas? fun at Wokingham Library

Author and Illustrator Cathy MacLennan came along to Wokingham Library on Saturday November 22nd to talk about her new children’s book “When, When, When will it be Christmas?” published by Boxer Books

Cathy talked to the children about her book and then told us about each of the different pages and characters in the book.                             Snowflakes were snipped, pretend snow was thrown, jingle bells were jingled and fun was had by all.

Cathy will be coming along to the Woodley Winter Extravaganza on Sunday December 7 at 1pm to do another session. So come along and join in the jingly fun.

Children’s Origami Club

We run an after school Origami Club at Wokingham Library at 4-4:45pm for children ages 7-11.  Our next meeting is on Tuesday 25th October and our theme is Under The Sea where we will be creating a sea otter, a whale, a crab and lots of fish.  Just drop in.  There is a charge of 50p per child.

Please come along and try origami, it doesn’t matter what ability you are, you can create something amazing.

We will also have a Festive Origami session on Tuesday 16th December, 4-4:45pm.

A new Poetry Reading Aloud group will meet at Lower Earley Library on the last Monday in each month between 10.30am and 11.30am. Anyone who enjoys reading  or listening to poetry being read aloud is welcome to join the group, the next meeting is on November 24. Call (0118) 974 3712 for more information.

Writing out Loud, an  Open Floor Event for local writers, takes place on Tuesday November 25 at 7.30pm, charge £3. For more information about either of these events please call Woodley Library on (0118) 9690304

Pottery Pals

Pottery painting workshop for parents and children to create personalise pottery items with your baby’s handprint or footprint, they make ideal Christmas presents.

£4 charge plus cost of pottery item.  Please call the relevant library to book a place. There is a charge of £4 plus the cost of the pottery item.

Penguin Storytime

Come and hear some fun  penguin stories and make your own penguin pal to take home! For children aged 5 and under with a £1.50 charge, Just drop in!

Wokingham Winter Carnival – Sunday November 30

Wokingham Library will be open for the Winter Carnival between 11am and 4pm this year. Our programme for the day includes:

  • Santa’s Grotto provided by Homestart Wokingham, 11am to 3pm
  • Music taster sessions with the Mini Maestros on the lower floor at 11am and 1.30pm
  • Cards for Good Causes on sale
  • Library coffee shop open 11am to 3.30pm

Little Explorers Book Club

The Little Explorers book club library challenge is for children aged 7 and under. Children collect a stamp each time they visit the library and borrow books. When they have collected 6 stamps they receive a certificate.
