Thanks to our library volunteers.
On Thursday 4th June library volunteers enjoyed a special event to
celebrate national Volunteers Week. The library volunteers listened to a fascinating illustrated talk by Peter Must, chair of the Wokingham Society on the Montagues and Montague House in Broad Street, Wokingham. There was an interesting library connection as Wokingham library was based in Montague House from 1970s to early 1990s.
The talk was followed by a library news update and Peter Must presented the volunteers with Thank You certificates acknowledging their valued efforts. We were also joined by Leader of the Council Keith Baker and our Lead member for Residence Services Pauline Jorgensen. The event finished with afternoon tea.
We are very grateful for all the enthusiasm and commitment of our library volunteers. Volunteers deliver the home library service, run children’s storytime, rhymetime sessions and activities, clubs for young people, UK online sessions helping people getting started with the internet, help with library events, reminiscence clubs, local history advice sessions and coffee mornings.
Volunteers Week is a nation-wide celebration of volunteering. For more information on volunteering visit http://www.wokingham.gov.uk/libraries/volunteering/
