Christmas and New Year Opening Times

All our libraries will be closed on Friday December 25, Saturday December 26 and Friday January 1. Maiden Erlegh and Finchampstead libraries will be closed from Thursday December 24 to Friday January 1 inclusive and reopen on Saturday January 2.

Wokingham and Lower Earley Libraries pop up shop will run until December 24, 2015

Woodley Winter Extravaganza

Woodley Library will be open between 10.30am and 4pm on Sunday December 6 during the Extravaganza.  There will be the opportunity to meet a fairytale character from the Enchanted Players Theatre Company with face painting available 10.30am to 12.30pm. Refreshments will be available to purchase from the Rotary Club 10.30 to 3pm and a free festive colouring table 10.30am to 4pm. Just drop-in!

Traveller’s Tips and Tales

Thinking about taking a gap year, career break or extended holiday and not sure where to start? Newly returned from South America, Katrina Barnes will be talking about her latest journey and will be offering a range of advice, from travelling solo to how to budget for your trip. A musical theatre show with the Enchanted Players Theatre Company. Suitable for all the family, £5 charge per person. Pirate face painting after the performance for an additional charge.

Winter Reading Challenge for Young People

It’s fun, it’s free, and it’s at your local Wokingham Borough Library this Winter.

Open to all library members aged 4 to 16 years old. Sign up in the library and get a free collectors card, borrow and read three books and you will receive a certificate on completion.

We would encourage you to write a book review to add to our Winter reading challenge wall too. Once complete you can enter our book themed prize draw. Join the challenge from Friday December 11 in any Wokingham Borough Library. The challenge will run until January 8, 2016

Don’t have time to get to the library – why don’t you let the library come to you? All you need is a library card and PIN, and you will have access to a range of services and resources via your smartphone, tablet or laptop – all free of charge.

There is a selection of over 1900 eBooks, and over 60 eMagazines (including back issues) which you can download to read on your device. There is also a range of over 1000 audio books for you to download and listen to on your iphone, ipod or mp3 player.

We also offer an online reference service. You can access all 3 online versions of Encyclopaedia Britannica (adult, teenage and junior), and we have a list of links to websites offering information and advice on a range of topics, including Business, Finance and Law.
