 New Library Opening Hours and Self Service

Our new library opening hours provide an extra 17½ hours of service per week. Have a look at your local libraries to see the new opening hours- go to http://www.wokingham.gov.uk/libraries/find-and-join-a-library/  Don’t forget you can save time queuing by using our new self service kiosks.  You can use them to return, renew or borrow books and other items.
They are available at the following libraries:- Woodley, Lower Earley, Twyford, Winnersh, Wokingham and Finchampstead. If you would like to use the self service kiosks but need a little help the first time please ask a member of staff and they will be happy to help you.

Bank Holidays – All our Libraries will be closed on Monday May 1 and Monday May 29

Events at Woodley Library

If you are a quiz fiend why not sign up for our Charity Quiz Night with a Spring theme at Woodley Library on Friday May 5, 7pm for a 7.30pm start, £3 charge, you can book as an individual or as part of a team (maximum of six people). Includes a raffle, proceeds to charity.

The ever popular History Wardrobe returns to the area with its new show Dressed to Impress, a fabulous presentation showcasing sensational special occasion outfits from the twentieth century. The event takes place at Woodley Library on Tuesday May 23, 7pm  £8 charge. Please call Woodley Library on (0118) 9690304 to book a place at either of these events.

Events at Wokingham Library

The Story of Spencers Wood– There will be an illustrated talk about the history of the village with the Spencers Wood Local History Group, £3 charge on Friday May 5, 2pm to 3pm

Meet local author Abi Oliver who will be talking about her  novel “A New Map of Love”. Thursday May 18 2pm to 3pm £2 charge. Tea and refreshments will be provided and books available for purchase.

Come to a Heartfulness Session and learn heartfulness relaxation and meditation techniques. This is a free event on Saturday May 13, 2pm to 3pm.

Try something really different and sign up for a Zentangle Workshop on Saturday May 20, 10am to 12noon, £5 charge. Learn how to create beautiful images from repetitive patterns.

Monday Evening Book Group-join our new evening book group to discuss best-sellers, prize winners and

favourites. The group meets at Wokingham Library on the second Monday 6pmto 7pm, the next meeting is on May 8.

 

Did you know that Wokingham Library has its own Play Reading Group? The group reads aloud plays from classic to modern drama This is an informal session with copies of the play plus tea and coffee provided. The next meeting is on Friday May 19, 10am to 12.30pm and on the third Friday in each month.

 

There is an Adult Storytelling session for people with learning disabilities held at the library on the fourth Friday of each month, 1.45pm to 2.45pm. This is a relaxing drop-in session where we look at poems, picture book and short stories, refreshments are provided. The next sessions  are  on Friday April 28 and May 26.
