Relax Kids helps children manage stress, anxiety and difficult feelings whilst boosting self-esteem, confidence and improving sleep. Relax Kids offers training to adults and classes to children using a unique 7-step method to teaching relaxation.

Finchampstead Library Redecoration  

As part of our ongoing investment and improvement in our libraries, Finchampstead Library will be temporarily closed for redecoration from Monday September 4, 2017 to Tuesday September 12, 2017.The library will reopen on Wednesday September 13, 2017.No books or items borrowed from Finchampstead library will be due for return during this period.  You may still renew library items at www.wokingham.gov.uk/libraries or by calling Wokingham Library on 0118 978 1368. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Self Service Kiosks in our Libraries

Don’t forget you can save time queuing by using our new self-service kiosks.  You can use them to return, renew or borrow books and other items.
They are available at the following libraries:- Woodley, Lower Earley, Twyford, Winnersh, Wokingham and Finchampstead. If you would like to use the self service kiosks but need a little help the first time please ask a member of staff and they will be happy to help you.

Heritage Open Days

Wokingham Library will be taking part in Heritage Open days this year when communities celebrate their history and heritage. Between September 4 and 16 there will be a special display about the history of Wokingham Library and we will also be highlighting some interesting facts and stories about the town as supplied by our local history volunteer Jim Bell.

Our Reminiscence Group will meet on Thursday September 7, 10.30am to 12noon and the topic will be Wokingham Library and its history and memories of libraries from childhood. This is a free event, no need to book, just drop-in.

Sign up for our talks at Wokingham Library in early October– Meredith Towne will be vising us with her costume presentation, Make Do and Mend  on Wednesday October 4, 2.30-4pm, Kathy Martin will be delivering her postponed talk The Good the Bad and the Unlucky on  Thursday October 5 2pm to 3pm and Dr Mike Darlison will be presenting his memories of founding the Woosehill medical practice in a talk called So You Want to be a GP! on Thursday October 12, 6pm to 7pm.  Twyford Library now has its own Writing Group which meets on the third Monday of each month, 5.45pm to 6.45pm. Inspiration and guidance in all areas of writing is available if required. There is no fee for this session.

What’s On in Wokingham Libraries for Children

Summer Reading Challenge 2017   

Animal Agents is the theme for our summer reading challenge theme for 2017.  Children can read whatever they like – fact books, joke books, picture books, audio books. They just have to borrow the 6 books from the library.   Every time they finish a book they’ll receive a sticker to put into a special collectors folder.  When they’ve read 6 books they’ll receive a certificate and a medal for completing the challenge.  You must sign up before Sunday 3 September 2017 and you have until Sunday September 17, 2017 to complete.

Rhymetime at Dinton Pastures Park

Come and join us at Dinton Pastures for our rhymetime in the park for the under 5’s.  There will be nursery rhymes, songs and a free book! You can also collect your Bookstart pack too!

Teen Reading Challenge

If you’re aged between 12 and 19 years old and think you can read 6 books before the end of the summer join our teen reading challenge.

Collect a bookmark from any of our libraries. You’ll receive a stamp on your bookmark each time you take out a book. The challenge runs until 11 September 2017. There will be a prize draw for everyone who completes the challenge with a fabulous Young Adults goodie bag filled with books for young adults.
