Between Saturday November 25 and January 8, youngsters aged from four to 11 can take part in the Wokingham Borough libraries Winter Reading Challenge to get a collector’s bookmark and the chance to win a book in a prize draw.
The challenge is free is open to existing members of Wokingham Borough libraries – but it’s easy to join if you’re not – to read three books to qualify for the prize draw, and perhaps write a book review to go on the Winter Reading Challenge wall.
The winter challenge follows the success of this summer’s ‘Animal Agents’ event which saw nearly 2,500 children take part and read six books during the school holiday in return for collectors cards, certificate and a medal.
109470 children’s fiction, non-fiction, audio and e-books were read by the youngsters in Wokingham Borough libraries during the summer challenge.
There were also 100 events with writing workshops, theatres shows, animal visits, science sessions, and young volunteer activity sessions. 1,386 children attended these.
