Wokingham Writers Group

Wokingham Writers Group welcomes new members!

We are a small friendly group of writers who meet on the third Saturday of each month from 10am until midday at Wokingham Library. Membership is free. It doesn’t matter whether you are a novice or more experienced, as an interest in writing is all that is required. We review and discuss each other’s writing in a supportive and constructive way and there are optional homework exercises for those who wish to practice their new skills between meetings.

So if you’ve held a desire to learn about writing, we could just be the group to help you complete that half-finished story.

But it’s not all work and no play. We break for coffee, which can be bought from the cafe upstairs in the library and we usually hold summer and Christmas socials. And we love birthdays!

If this sounds like the writing group for you then please come along and sit in for a meeting without any obligation. You will be made very welcome.

Please contact either Keith Sheppard ( Chairman) :- keith@writerman.org.uk or Heather Dyson at Wokingham Library :- 01189 781368.

Greek Myth – Eros and Psyche – Summer Theatre Show at Woodley Library on Monday August 6, 2018

Greek Myth – Eros and Psyche – Summer Theatre Show at Woodley Library

greeky myth image edit

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there lived three princesses. Psyche, the youngest, was very kind. She was also very beautiful. She was so beautiful, in fact, that the powerful goddess of love, Aphrodite, became jealous of Psyche.

Alas: Eros gathered her into his arms and flew them back to his palace.  It took a while, but Eros finally convinced his mother, Aphrodite, to accept Psyche as his wife. With Aphrodite’s help, he convinced the great Zeus to admit Psyche to the ranks of the immortal gods.

In celebration, Psyche and Eros threw a party at the palace. Apollo played his lyre. Dionysus brought the wine. And all the gods rejoiced. As for Eros and Psyche, they lived happily ever after.

At Woodley Library on Monday August 6 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm

A Theatre show by Enchanted Players Theatre Company for all the Family brought to you by Wokingham Borough Libraries, with free facepainting after the performance!

Places must be booked at Woodley Library, call 0118 969 0304,  £5 charge per person.
