Alternative Therapies and Pamper Evening at Woodley Library

Over 60 people enjoyed an evening of treatments, talks and demonstrations at Woodley Library’s Alternative Therapies and Pamper Evening on Monday 17th July.

Shelving bays transformed into treatment areas – quite a different environment for the therapists to work in but many found that being surrounded by books added to the air of peace and tranquillity, whilst those not receiving treatments or listening to a talk were able to relax in the courtyard garden as the Great British Summer blessed as with sunshine and warmth.

Both those receiving and giving treatments had a fabulous time and left wondering  when the next evening would be.

Sonia Waltonspa-packages500-5

Sonia lives and works in Woodley, She became interested in Indian Head Massage when a friend suggested it may help a close family member who had been diagnosed with acute anxiety, willing to try anything that may alleviate the symptoms she booked herself on a course and found it to be an amazing experience which has started her on a slow but thoroughly enjoyable journey and truly believes that she has found her calling. Sonia qualified in Indian Head Massage over 10 years ago and has recently completed her Level II Reiki.

The aim of Indian Head Massage is to help balance both the mind and body through relaxation, rejuvenation and increased energy levels. Catherine Holt- Sound Therapist

catherine holt

For Catherine, getting involved in Therapeutic Sound was a powerful, intuitive ‘from the heart’ decision. Many years ago a friend handed her a leaflet where BAST (The British Academy of Sound Therapy) were advertising an open day. Catherine immediately felt an extremely strong pull and went along. Throughout the day she felt a strong ‘knowing’ that this was the right work for her. It was some years until she began the professional training, but from the first moment she clapped eyes on the words ‘Sound Therapy’ she never doubted her vocation in this work.
As a classically trained musician Catherine had spent a long time searching for a way to bring her musical training and love of the spiritual path together, she has loved every moment of her discovery, training and learning. Catherine’s passion is to bring the essence of this work to people who are in need of relaxation, peace or spiritual growth. During our evening on the 17th Catherine is doing a talk about sound healing and will be doing a relaxing sound bath/ guided meditation.

Louisa Chipperfield – HypnotherapistLouisa Chipperfield - pic

Louisa, a fully qualified Hypnotherapist is another of our fantastic four speakers with her talk starting at 7.30pm.

Hypnotherapy she says “is a wonderfully relaxing approach to making the changes you desire in order to move forward. It utilises your natural ability to achieve a focused, concentrated state of being where you set aside your day to day thoughts and work with the deepest part of the mind, the subconscious, which is responsible for your beliefs, associations and instincts.

Working together with your therapist to unravel the reasons behind your unwanted thoughts and behaviour and maximise your motivations to make long term changes, hypnotherapy can be a powerful approach to overcoming problems. It can be highly effective in addressing stress and anxiety, fears and phobias, changing unhelpful habits such as smoking or over eating, and increasing confidence and self-esteem”

Louisa who has a quiet, comfortable practice based in Woodley will be available to chat to personally throughout the evening and for more information, feel free to take a look at her website www.lc-therapy.co.uk or find her on Facebook.

Let us introduce you to two of our therapists for the Alternative Therapies and Pamper Evening at Woodley Library on Monday July 17.

Anna Suchodolska – Massage Therapist

Anna Suchodolska picAnna moved to the Reading area from London 2 years ago and liked it instantly. She has since made new friends and continued networking with people. She enjoys social events, both participating and organising them but also likes spending time walking and contemplating nature. Her cat, Ray, who has been a wonderful companion over many years, has played a significant role in ‘teaching’ her a few tips on relaxation techniques.

Anna initially took her ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Massage to help her husband with his back problems. She was fascinated to discover that following treatment on stressed muscles the response was one of ease on the whole person. She is curious about how the body can sometimes demonstrate its ability to heal itself with very little external influence, believing that massage should in no way be invasive but support the body’s ability for self-healing.

Anna will offer a 15 minute neck, shoulder and back massage in complete privacy (donations will be welcome) and looks forward to meeting you on the evening.

Anna Jones – Body Image Coach

Anna J Prof PicAnna of “Time to Sort it” is one of the fantastic four speakers we have for the evening and is truly one not to miss; she will be taking to the stage at 8pm with her talk, “Boost Your Body Image”

Anna is a woman with a mission – to help long term serial dieters get off the hamster wheel of fresh starts and “Oh no, I’ve blown it again!” She wants to help them realise that life is too short to be stuck in the frustration, disappointment and self-loathing that comes with this “on it, off it” cycle.

Her message is “it is time to accept and respect that amazing body of yours so that you can treat it in a way that it deserves” but does warn that “the by-product of this approach is that you may accidentally release some weight!”

You can find out more about Anna on her website https://timetosortit.com  and you will be able to chat to her personally throughout the evening.

Please contact Woodley Library on 01189 690304 for full details and to book your place.
