Woodley Library’s Creative Crafts and Pamper Evening will take place on Monday 4th December with doors opening at 5pm.

Spend an hour of your evening with Helen Cook – papercrafter, scrapbooker and independent Stampin’ Up demonstrator and you could make this beautiful decorated mirror as a personalised gift for someone special. In a group of no more than 4, Helen will encourage you to play with stamps, inks, punches and diecuts to create a truly personal gift – and even if you don’t know what some of those are yet, Helen’s enthusiasm, warmth and friendliness will help you find your creative side in no time.

There will be a charge of £10 for the session which includes all materials and Helen will hold two during the evening, from 6 – 7pm and 7.30 – 8.30pm.

Helen also holds card making classes at Woodley Library on selected Friday afternoons and will have some of her own creations for sale on the evening.

Alternative Therapies and Pamper Evening at Woodley Library

Over 60 people enjoyed an evening of treatments, talks and demonstrations at Woodley Library’s Alternative Therapies and Pamper Evening on Monday 17th July.

Shelving bays transformed into treatment areas – quite a different environment for the therapists to work in but many found that being surrounded by books added to the air of peace and tranquillity, whilst those not receiving treatments or listening to a talk were able to relax in the courtyard garden as the Great British Summer blessed as with sunshine and warmth.

Both those receiving and giving treatments had a fabulous time and left wondering  when the next evening would be.

Sonia Waltonspa-packages500-5

Sonia lives and works in Woodley, She became interested in Indian Head Massage when a friend suggested it may help a close family member who had been diagnosed with acute anxiety, willing to try anything that may alleviate the symptoms she booked herself on a course and found it to be an amazing experience which has started her on a slow but thoroughly enjoyable journey and truly believes that she has found her calling. Sonia qualified in Indian Head Massage over 10 years ago and has recently completed her Level II Reiki.

The aim of Indian Head Massage is to help balance both the mind and body through relaxation, rejuvenation and increased energy levels. It relaxes the upper body, the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension.  A gentle massage to the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and face, helps to dispel stress, relieve tension and promote healthy hair and scalp.

Catherine Holt- Sound Therapist

catherine holt

For Catherine, getting involved in Therapeutic Sound was a powerful, intuitive ‘from the heart’ decision. Many years ago a friend handed her a leaflet where BAST (The British Academy of Sound Therapy) were advertising an open day. Catherine immediately felt an extremely strong pull and went along. Throughout the day she felt a strong ‘knowing’ that this was the right work for her. It was some years until she began the professional training, but from the first moment she clapped eyes on the words ‘Sound Therapy’ she never doubted her vocation in this work.
As a classically trained musician Catherine had spent a long time searching for a way to bring her musical training and love of the spiritual path together, she has loved every moment of her discovery, training and learning. Catherine’s passion is to bring the essence of this work to people who are in need of relaxation, peace or spiritual growth. During our evening on the 17th Catherine is doing a talk about sound healing and will be doing a relaxing sound bath/ guided meditation.

Louisa Chipperfield – HypnotherapistLouisa Chipperfield - pic

Louisa, a fully qualified Hypnotherapist is another of our fantastic four speakers with her talk starting at 7.30pm.

Hypnotherapy she says “is a wonderfully relaxing approach to making the changes you desire in order to move forward. It utilises your natural ability to achieve a focused, concentrated state of being where you set aside your day to day thoughts and work with the deepest part of the mind, the subconscious, which is responsible for your beliefs, associations and instincts.

Working together with your therapist to unravel the reasons behind your unwanted thoughts and behaviour and maximise your motivations to make long term changes, hypnotherapy can be a powerful approach to overcoming problems. It can be highly effective in addressing stress and anxiety, fears and phobias, changing unhelpful habits such as smoking or over eating, and increasing confidence and self-esteem”

Louisa who has a quiet, comfortable practice based in Woodley will be available to chat to personally throughout the evening and for more information, feel free to take a look at her website www.lc-therapy.co.uk or find her on Facebook.
