Make a Noise in Libraries: Get Connected 2-15 June

Reading Connects people, and for those who live with sight loss it’s never been easier to access book, information and ideas using both print and digital technology.

In libraries we endeavour to:

  •  Enable people with sight loss to engage with reading·
  • Help people connect to the reading method that best suits them
  •  Use technology to grow access and the pleasure of reading
  •  Create opportunities for people with sight loss to get together, and to meet with others near and (possibly) far!

In Wokingham Borough Libraries we provide large print books for people who have difficulty in reading ordinary print and also audio books on CD.

We also have picture books for children in giant print and Braille.

There is now free access to e-audio books via our website. These can be downloaded and listened to via an app on a phone, MP3Player or tablet. There are over 1,000 titles to download and more are added each month with unlimited availability of titles. For information about how to use this service go to https://www.wokingham.gov.uk/libraries/library-services/e-audio/

We also run a reading group for people with a visual impairment, the VIP book group. which meets on the third Friday in each month, 2.15pm to 3.30pm at Wokingham Library. People discuss best-sellers , classics and favourites and  MP3 discs are available to borrow free of charge. Sighted people are also welcome to attend. For more information about how to join this group contact Wokingham Library on (0118) 9781368
