Wokingham Borough Libraries offers free, online access to Britannica Online, which is a top quality, constantly updated encyclopaedia suitable for all ages. As well as in-depth articles on a wide range of topics, the website also contains articles based around current news topics-

  • Britannica Library Junior is aimed at ages 5 to 11, and one of its features is News of the Day from CBBC.
  • Britannica Library Student is for ages 12 to 18, and includes a Daily Buzzword explaining its meaning and how it is used.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online has two articles – Christmas and Santa Claus –  providing relevant topical information for young children.

Find out about the different ways that Christmas is celebrated around the globe and the many traditions that are practised at this time of year.

The Activity Centre is packed full of fun and educational things to do to keep children entertained in the run up to Christmas, including pictures, puzzles and colouring-in activities.

All this is FREE!
