Libraries Week is the annual showcase of the best that UK libraries of all kinds have to offer, encouraging everyone to discover their library.  Wokingham Borough Libraries is highlighting the events it runs throughout the week, to showcase what we do in our libraries throughout the year.  The full schedule of events and activities for Thursday October 12, 2017 is as follows:

Design a Library Monster – “You’ve heard tell of the monsters that look after the library when it’s closed, so now, come and design your own to join them in their night time library.” Just drop-in! Maiden Erlegh Library  3.30pm to 4.15pm

Radstock Nursery visit to Lower Earley Library  on Friday July 14

The children learned what they can do in the library, how the books are arranged and how to take out library books using the new self-service machines.

The children then listened to the following stories :

  • Old Macdonald’s Things That Go by Jane Clarke and Migy Blanco
  • Ten Shiny Snails by Ruth Galloway
  • Old Hat by Emily Gravett

Early Years Library sessions

We offer library visits to all early years’ settings, pre-schools and nurseries. The children can exchange books and listen to a story in the safe and secure surroundings of the library.  Activity sheets which reflect the story/topic can also be provided.

We also offer any Children’s Groups – Nurseries, Early Year setting, Home Educators and Registered Child-minders a separate Library ticket.  Just ask in your local library for more information.

Animal Agents at Wokingham Borough Libraries Summer Events 2017

Animal Agents is the Summer Reading Challenge theme for 2017 at Wokingham Borough Libraries.  To join just pop into your local Wokingham Borough Library between Saturday 1 July 2017 and Sunday 3 September 2017.   Open to all primary school aged Library members.
