Rhymetime NOT in the Park
As we are not able to host our usual Rhymetimes in the Park at Dinton Pastures and California Country Park this year, we have put together a rhymetime from the library team and an activity from the childrens centre team for you to enjoy from home.
View the “How to make playdough” from Wokingham Borough Children’s Centres on the YouTube channel.
We have many partners who usually join us, so we have provided information on what they are doing and how you can reach them below:
Home-Start Wokingham are a charity providing support to young families with at least one child under the age of five. Their team of volunteers help to increase the confidence and independence of families by visiting families in their own homes to offer support, friendship and practical support.
Due to Covid19 and following Government guidelines our volunteers are still able to offer this vital support to our families via telephone calls, messages and video calls.
Home-Start are recruiting now for their next remote Volunteer Preparation Course which will start w/c 21st September 2020. If you are a parent or grandparent living in Wokingham Borough, have a couple of hours a week you could spare and want to learn how you can help other parents cope better with the daily challenges of family life, please call on ☎️ 0118 9888025 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
When we started our Rhymetime in the Park it was to celebrate National Bookstart Week a campaign run by BookTrust. In recent years this has changed to their Pyjamarama campaign which went ahead online in June.
In Wokingham Borough we gift Bookstart Packs to all babies aged 0-12 months via the Health Team and to 3-4 year olds via Early Years Settings and Libraries.
Booktrust also have some fantastic resources especially for the under 5’s on their website. Check out the BookTrust HomeTime for little ones here.
My Journey Wokingham is a borough-wide sustainable travel campaign that aims to help and inspire Wokingham residents, employees and students to travel by alternative modes. During June they are currently celebrating Bike Month – for more details or to take part in some of the activities check out the Love to Ride website
