New Children’s Summer Reading Books to try at Winnersh Library

Why not try a new book from Winnersh Library this Summer?

9781509818761[1]Elephants don’t sit on cars by David Henry Wilson

“Jeremy James always seems to be getting into mischief and is fed up with grown-ups never knowing the answer to important questions. Join Jeremy James as his navigates his way through messy pesky supermarkets, goes to a football game and discovers the consequences of eating too many sweets.”

Do you Speak Chocolate? by Cas Lester

“Jaz has found the best way to make friends with new girl Nadima, who doesn’t speak 9781471405037[1]any English – by offering her a chocolate bar. Nadima grins and offers back some Turkish Delight, the ice is broken, and a special friendship begins. Jaz is outgoing, rebellious, gumptious and a little bit bolshy – but it doesn’t stop her from finding it hard that she doesn’t have a best friend at school any more. Not since Lily went off with Kara.”

The Secret Cooking Club by Laurel Remington

9781910655245[1]“Twelve-year-old Scarlett is the star and victim of her mum’s popular blog – the butt of school jokes, she’s eager to stay firmly out of the spotlight. But one evening, she finds a gorgeous kitchen in the house next door, left empty by an elderly neighbour in hospital. As Scarlett bakes, she starts to transform her life, discovering new friends and forming the Secret Cooking Club. But can she fix her family, seal her friendships and find the mysterious secret ingredient?”

Come and meet Laurel at the Wokingham Children’s Book Festival in October, more information about the festival and how to book tickets can be found here:  http://wokingham-tc.gov.uk/bookfest/laurel-remington/
